What to expect

The Remutaka Cycle Trail is a diverse trail that winds up the leafy Hutt Valley, climbs gently over the forested Remutaka Ranges, and skirting around the rugged coast back towards the capital. The trail offers multiple access points and a variety of terrain, making it suitable for families with children. The trail traverses through Petone, Lower Hutt city, Upper Hutt city, Remutaka Ranges, South Wairarapa, and the south-east coast, offering scenic views, historic sites, and opportunities to explore the local culture. The trail's four sections can be completed in 2-3 days, and there are plenty of amenities and services available along the way, including food, water, and accommodation options
