Te Waikoropupū Springs, also known as Pupu Springs, are the largest freshwater springs in New Zealand and the largest cold-water springs in the Southern Hemisphere. The springs are recognized internationally for their spectacular color and clarity, with visibility of approximately 63 meters. The water is so clear that it is considered to be one of the clearest in the world. The springs are spiritually significant to Māori people and are considered a taonga (treasure) and wāhi tapu (sacred place). Visitors can take a short loop walk through mānuka and kānuka forest to a viewing platform overlooking the springs, where they can see the bubbling surface of the water and watch eels and native fish darting around in the crystal-clear waters below. The springs are a great place to visit with family and friends, offering a unique and fascinating experience
