Doubtful Sound, also known as Patea, is a fiord in Fiordland, New Zealand. It is the deepest and second longest of the South Island's fiords, with a depth of up to 421 meters and a length of 40 kilometers. The fiord is known for its powerful serenity, with two distinct layers of water that don't mix, and is home to many deep-sea species. Visitors can explore the fiord by scenic cruise or kayak, and may spot bottlenose dolphins, fur seals, and penguins. The fiord has several waterfalls, including the 619-meter Browne Falls and the 220-meter Helena Falls. The surrounding mountains are covered in dense native rainforest, and the area receives a high amount of rainfall, making it a unique and breathtaking destination
