Katiki Point Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located on the southern tip of the Moeraki peninsula in Otago, New Zealand. The lighthouse was built in 1878 to make the area safer for ships sailing past on their way to Port Chalmers, Dunedin. It is an 8-meter tall wooden tower with a hexagonal shape and a balcony. The light is powered by mains electricity and has a range of 14 nautical miles. The lighthouse was automated in 1975 and is now monitored remotely from Maritime New Zealand's Wellington office. The surrounding area is home to a variety of wildlife, including yellow-eyed penguins, New Zealand fur seals, and several species of birds. The Katiki Point Historic Reserve, where the lighthouse is located, is administered by the Department of Conservation and can be reached on foot from the car park on Lighthouse Road
