What to expect

The Royal Albatross Centre is a unique wildlife reserve located on the Otago Peninsula in Dunedin, New Zealand. It is the only mainland breeding colony of Northern Royal Albatross in the world. Visitors can observe these majestic birds throughout their breeding cycle, from courtship to raising their young, in a special observatory on the nature reserve. The centre also offers guided tours and educational displays, providing insight into the lives of these magnificent birds. The Royal Albatross Centre is operated by the Otago Peninsula Trust, a private charitable conservation trust, and a proportion of every ticket sold goes towards the fostering and protection of the Northern Royal Albatross

This family's experience:

Activities: We went to the Royal Albatross Centre and visited the museum, which is free. We learned a lot and were lucky enough to see albatrosses flying over us. The museum is "instructive and fun."

Highlights: The kids were amazed by the museum and seeing the albatrosses. "We learned a lot (including the size of the chicks just demented!)." We were so lucky to see the albatrosses flying so close! ✨
