Awaroa / Godley Head is a prominent headland in Christchurch, New Zealand, located at the entrance to Lyttelton Harbour / Whakaraupō. The headland is named for John Robert Godley and offers stunning views across the harbour to Banks Peninsula and down the coastline. The area has a rich history, including a World War 2 coastal defence battery and a historic cabin known as Scott's cabin. The headland is also home to a variety of flora and fauna, including white-flippered penguins. The area is suitable for small children and family groups, with easy graded tracks and great views. However, there are steep, unfenced cliffs, and visitors are advised to keep children under close supervision at all times
