Hells Gate, also known as Tikitere, is a geothermal reserve and mud spa located in Rotorua, New Zealand. The area features steaming lakes, mudpools, fumaroles, a mud volcano, and the Kakahi Falls, the largest hot waterfall in the southern hemisphere. Visitors can take part in guided or self-guided tours of the geothermal park, learning about its history and Māori culture. The mud spa offers a unique experience, where visitors can lather themselves in geothermal mud and soak in sulphur mineral water, which has been used by local Māori for over 800 years for its healing properties. The area is operated by the local Māori tribe Ngāti Rangiteaorere, who have lived in the area for over 700 years
