Hook of Holland is a coastal village in the southwestern corner of Holland, located at the mouth of the New Waterway shipping canal into the North Sea. The village has a wide sandy beach, one section of which is designated for use by naturists, and extensive sand dunes with foot and cycle paths. Visitors can explore the MAESLANT storm surge barrier, a world-class engineering masterpiece, and the Fort Hook van Holland, a pre-WW2 underground concrete fort. The village also has a small harbour, the Berghaven, which is used by the pilot service, government vessels, and the Hook of Holland lifeboat
