Schoorl

Schoorl is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland, located about 8 km northwest of Alkmaar. The village is situated between the polder area of North Holland and the Schoorlse dunes, which are the highest and widest dunes in the Netherlands. Schoorl is a popular tourist destination, especially in the summer, with over 25 campsites and various vacation parks and hotels. The village has a long history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the 10th century. Visitors can explore the village's historic center, which features two old town halls from 1600, and enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and biking in the surrounding dunes. The village also hosts the annual Meidenmarkt festival, a 100-year-old tradition where local youngsters can meet partners of the opposite sex
