Skinny Bridge

The Magere Brug, also known as the Skinny Bridge, is a beautiful wooden drawbridge over the river Amstel in Amsterdam. The bridge has a rich history, with the first version being built in 1691 and subsequent replacements in 1871 and 1934. The current bridge is a popular spot for lovers and photographers, with 1,200 light bulbs illuminating it at night. According to legend, a kiss between lovers on the bridge ensures they will be in love forever. The bridge is now limited to pedestrians and cyclists, and its central section is opened many times a day to let river traffic pass. The bridge's name 'Magere Brug' literally means 'skinny bridge' in Dutch, which refers to its original narrowness.
