What to expect

Patan Durbar Square is a marvel of Newar architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The square is home to many temples and statues, including the Krishna Mandir, a three-storied structure built in the local variety of Shikhara style. The square is a center of both Hinduism and Buddhism, with 136 'bahals' or courtyards and 55 major temples. The area is crowded with thousands of Hindu pilgrims and devotees during Krishnastami. The square also holds old Newari residential houses and is a great place to experience the local culture and architecture. Visitors can explore the many temples, courtyards, and statues, and learn about the history and significance of the area
