The region is made up of several provinces and prefectures, including Rabat Prefecture, Salé Prefecture, and Kénitra Province. The region's economy is distinguished by the importance of the value added from the tertiary sector, which represents 64.8% of the region's economy. The population of the region is almost evenly balanced between men and women, with a ratio of 101 men to 100 women. The region has a total area of 18,194 km2 and a population density of 250/km2
