Palazzo del Principe

Palace Monte-Carlo, Monaco

What to expect

The Prince's Palace of Monaco is the official residence of the Sovereign Prince of Monaco. Built in 1191 as a Genoese fortress, it has a unique blend of architectural styles, with a mix of medieval fortifications, Renaissance-style palazzi, and 19th-century towers. The palace features state apartments with 18th-century style, an external honorary courtyard with frescoed open arcades, and a processional route to the throne room. The palace is home to many exceptional Italian Renaissance frescoes, covering a total surface area of 600m2, which were brought to light by a series of events and restored under the auspices of HSH Prince Albert II. Visitors can explore the Grands Appartements, admire the frescoes, and discover the history of the Principality and its connections to the Mediterranean world. The palace offers audio guides in 11 languages, a downloadable smartphone app, a children's booklet, and a Braille booklet for the visually impaired. Guide dogs and medical service animals are also accepted
