Cobá

Archaeological site Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico

What to expect

Coba is an ancient Maya city located in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, surrounded by two large lagoons. The site features a network of stone causeways, known as sacbeob, with the longest one running over 100 kilometers westward to the site of Yaxuna. The main pyramid, Nohoch Mul, is the tallest in the Yucatan Peninsula, standing at 42 meters high. Visitors can explore the site, which includes three settlements, two ball courts, and the opportunity to climb the pyramid. The site is estimated to have had over 50,000 inhabitants at its peak and was an important center of trade and commerce. The name Coba means 'waters stirred by the wind' and the site is a great place to visit for those interested in history, culture, and nature
