What to expect
Bacalar Lagoon, also known as the Lagoon of Seven Colors, is a stunning freshwater lake in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. The lagoon is renowned for its striking blue color and water clarity, partly due to its white limestone bottom. It's a great place for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding, with many cenotes and a pirate channel to explore. The lagoon is home to a huge population of stromatolites, which are cauliflower-like structures that are some of the oldest life on the planet. Visitors can take a boat tour or rent equipment to navigate the lagoon's calm surface and discover its hidden coves and mangroves. The surrounding area is also perfect for relaxing and taking in the breathtaking views of the seven colors of the lagoon
