Agua Azul, located in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas, is a series of waterfalls found on the Xanil River. The waterfalls consist of many cataracts following one after another, with the larger ones being as high as 6 meters. The water has a high content of calcium carbonate and other minerals, which encases rocks and fallen trees in a thick shell-like coating of limestone. The area is a flora and fauna protection area, covering 25.8 km2, and offers a 1.9-km out-and-back trail that takes an average of 37 minutes to complete. The trail is moderately challenging and suitable for running and walking, with dogs allowed on a leash. Visitors can enjoy the impressive blue water, get into the water, and take in the incredible views of the different waterfalls from several viewpoints
