Chamarel Falls is a striking piece of nature, a single-drop waterfall about 100m high, surrounded by lush green scenery. The waterfall is fed by the waters of three distinct streams pouring into the Saint Denis River, creating a powerful rush with a peak flow rate in excess of 40,000 m³ per minute. Visitors can view the waterfall from the lower and upper viewpoint of Black River National Park or from the Seven Coloured Earth Geopark. The area is also suitable for abseiling and swimming, and enthusiasts can head down the trail to enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool water. The waterfall is a spectacular showcase of millions of years of volcanic activity, with a dramatic landscape formed by lavas of two different ages
