George Town is a city located on the island of Penang in Malaysia. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its unique architectural and cultural townscape, shaped by centuries of intermingling between various cultures and religions. The city has a rich history, having been founded as an entrepôt by Francis Light in 1786, and was the first British settlement in Southeast Asia. George Town is also famous for its delicious food, with a mix of Malay, Chinese, and Indian cuisine. Visitors can explore the city's winding alleys, pastel-painted storefronts, and sumptuously restored hotels. The city is also home to many temples, including the Kek Lok Si Temple, or the Million Buddhas Precious Pagoda, a complex of structures on three levels with thousands of gilded Buddhas
