Kazemats

Defensive stronghold Luxembourg, Luxembourg, Luxembourg

What to expect

The Bock Casemates, a subterranean defence system, is one of the most important visitor sites in Luxembourg. The casemates were initially carved in the 17th century and subsequently extended. Visitors can explore the archaeological crypt, the antechamber to the casemates, and take in wonderful views of the Grund, Clausen, and Pfaffenthal districts. The Bock Casemates are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and offer a glimpse into the tumultuous history of the area. The nearby Pétrusse Casemates also offer a unique experience, with rocks coming to life to tell their story. The casemates have been used for various purposes over the centuries, including as shelters during both world wars
