What to expect

Neringa is a municipality in westernmost Lithuania, comprising several villages in the Curonian Spit. It is the smallest municipality in the country in terms of population. Nida is the seat of government and largest town in Neringa Municipality. The municipality is located south of Klaipėda, separated from the mainland Lithuania by Curonian Lagoon. The villages in Neringa municipality comprise the self-governing resort town of Nida, the eldership of Juodkrantė, and the eldership of Preila and Pervalka. These villages are tourist resorts and have been granted more self-government. The name Neringa was created during the Soviet era for the new city municipality. The municipality has a rich history, with the region being part of the State of the Teutonic Knights, the Kingdom of Prussia, and Germany at various times. The colours of the typical houses in the area are handed down from the pagan religion and symbolize Divinities: Earth, Sky and Water, Clouds and Spray
