Ock Pop Tok, meaning 'East Meets West' in Lao, is a social enterprise based in Luang Prabang, Laos. It was founded by women and is run by women for the women of Laos, with the goal of preserving the textile traditions of Laos. The organization collaborates with communities to preserve these traditions and all products are handmade in Laos using the finest materials. Ock Pop Tok has two locations in Luang Prabang, one in the historic centre and the other on the banks of the Mekong, where visitors can stay, eat, create, and shop. The Living Crafts Centre offers a free tour, classes, and the opportunity to meet master weavers and learn about the textile traditions of Laos. The centre also features a Silk Road Café with a menu inspired by the Silk Road traditions and stunning views of the Mekong. Visitors can also try their hand at silk weaving, natural dyeing, batik drawing, and bamboo weaving, and bring home a unique souvenir.
