The Ewaso Narok River is a tributary of the Ewaso Ng'iro River, located in Kenya. It originates from the high-lying areas around Mount Kenya and flows through the Laikipia County. The river is an important source of water for the local community, wildlife, and agriculture. However, the river and its surrounding wetlands are facing threats due to encroachment, low water levels, and climate change. The wetlands are home to over 170 bird species and 100 plant species, but increased encroachment has resulted in ecosystem alteration, habitat modification, and the extinction of both wetland and rangeland species. The river's water is also being sucked into individual farms via furrows and unregulated water pumps, leaving the wetland dry and threatening the lives of thousands of people, livestock, and wildlife
