What to expect

Kannondo Hall is part of the Senso-ji Temple, a Buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Tokyo. The temple is known for its colorful and popular architecture, and it is one of the most famous landmarks in Tokyo. The legend says that in the year 628, two brothers fished a statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, out of the Sumida River, and even though they put the statue back into the river, it always returned to them. Consequently, Senso-ji was built nearby for the goddess of Kannon. The temple was completed in 645, making it Tokyo's oldest temple. Visitors can enter the temple grounds through the famous Kaminarimon Gate, also known as the Thunder Gate, which is well-known for its huge red paper lantern. The gate leads to a shopping street called Nakamise-dori, lined with many souvenir shops selling traditional Japanese handicrafts and sweets. The main hall, Kannondo Hall, is said to hold a golden image of the Goddess of Mercy. The temple is a great place to visit with family and friends, with its rich history, beautiful architecture, and traditional Japanese culture
