Shinsekai, or 'New World', is a district in Osaka that was developed before the war and then neglected in the decades afterwards. At the district's center stands Tsutenkaku Tower, the nostalgia-evoking symbol of Shinsekai. The area is home to various attractions, including Janjan Yokocho, a 130m street lined with about 50 shops, and Spa World, a huge bath complex with a large number of hot spring baths. Visitors can also enjoy kushikatsu, one of Osaka's best known specialties, at many restaurants in the area. While the area has a reputation for being somewhat precarious and seedy, it is relatively safe in the daytime, but visitors should be cautious at night, especially on the streets to the west where an estimated 4000 homeless men are concentrated

Activities: We went to discover the Shinsekai district, famous for its Tsūtenkaku Tower. We were amazed by the storefronts, including one dedicated to capsule toy machines. We also spotted the fukubukuro sold in all the stores
Highlights: The plunge into colors and smells made us forget our fatigue! The children enjoyed the stands of games set up on the esplanade of the shopping center. "The enseignes plus farfelues les unes que les autres sont toujours là et fascinent toujours autant les enfants" ✨
