Kofuku-ji Temple is a historic Buddhist temple and the national headquarters of the Hossō school. The temple features several buildings of great historic value, including a five-storied pagoda, which is Japan's second tallest wooden pagoda, and a three-storied pagoda. The temple grounds are home to the Central Golden Hall, the Eastern Golden Hall, and the National Treasure Museum, which exhibits part of the temple's great art collection. The temple also has two octagonal halls, the Northern and Southern Octagonal Halls, which are not usually open to the public. With a history of over 1,300 years, Kofuku-ji is one of Japan's oldest and most famous Buddhist temples, making it a great place to visit for those interested in history, architecture, and Buddhist culture
