Otani Sobyo, also known as Higashi Otani, is a cemetery and mausoleum in Kyoto, Japan. It is the final resting place of Shinran, the founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect of Japanese Buddhism. The mausoleum is located within the Higashi Honganji Temple grounds and features an impressive entrance gate, a main hall, and a huge cemetery. Visitors can explore the graveyard, which contains the tomb of Shinran, and see the statue of Amitabha, the principal Buddha of Pure Land Buddhism.
