What to expect

Kiyomizudera Temple is a famous Buddhist temple located in eastern Kyoto, Japan. The temple is known for its wooden stage that juts out from its main hall, offering nice views of the surrounding cherry and maple trees, as well as the city of Kyoto. The main hall houses a small statue of the eleven-faced, thousand-armed Kannon, and visitors can drink from the Otowa Waterfall, which is believed to have various benefits. The temple grounds also include other structures, such as the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking, and the Okunoin Hall, which resembles the main hall on a smaller scale. The temple is particularly popular during festivals, especially at New Year's and during obon in the summer. Visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty of the temple grounds, which are especially stunning during the cherry blossom season and autumn leaf season
