What to expect

Kiyomizu-dera Temple, also known as the Pure Water Temple, is a famous Buddhist temple located in eastern Kyoto, Japan. The temple is situated in the foothills of Mount Otowa and offers stunning views of the city. The main hall has a large veranda that juts out over the hillside, providing a nice view of the surrounding area. The temple is famous for its wooden stage, which is 13 meters above the hillside, and its Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can also see the Otowa Waterfall, which is divided into three separate streams, each with a different benefit. The temple grounds include several other shrines and halls, such as the Okunoin Hall and the Koyasu Pagoda. The temple is particularly popular during festivals, especially at New Year's and during obon in the summer
