What to expect

Atsuta Jingu is one of Shinto's most important shrines, enshrining the Sun Goddess Amaterasu and storing the sacred sword Kusanagi, one of the three imperial regalia. The shrine is located in a pleasant, wooded park in southern Nagoya and features a museum called Kusanagi-kan, which exhibits historical swords and offers a hands-on corner where visitors can lift sample swords. The shrine also has a treasure house with more swords and other shrine-related documents and objects on display. Visitors can try the shrine's version of kishimen noodles, a local specialty, at a nearby restaurant
