Building Venice, Veneto, Italy

What to expect

The Customs House, also known as Dogana da Mar, is a historic building located in Venice, Italy. It was built between 1677 and 1682 as a customs house to control the entrance of ships to the Grand Canal and prevent tax evasion. The building features a unique architectural style with Gothic and Baroque elements, and its square tower is topped with two Atlases supporting a globe on which Fortuna sits. Today, the Customs House is a hub of art, managed by the same structure that runs Palazzo Grassi, and hosts temporary exhibits of modern art. Visitors can enjoy the building's stunning architecture and explore the various art exhibitions on display
