Valgrande is a fishing valley of enormous environmental value, located in the municipality of San Michele al Tagliamento, between Caorle and Bibione. The pristine landscape comprises 360 hectares of reeds, lakes, woods, and bays that can be explored on horseback, foot, and bicycle. The area has been transformed from a swampy environment into a breeding ground for various fish species, providing a natural oasis for the community. A ruined Roman villa with mosaics is hidden in the vegetation, and the area features the tallest dunes on the Northern Adriatic shore, reaching up to 11m in height. The valley is home to holm oaks over 150 years old, rare flowers and plants, deer, boar, and wild horses, making it a unique and fascinating place to visit

Activities: We biked through Bibione to a meeting point and then with a guide along bike paths to Valgrande. We explored the nature reserve, which used to be a fish farm. We went on a kayak tour lasting about an hour and learned about the flora, fauna, and the area's history
Highlights: We loved the kayak tour. "It was like another world", and we were able to dangle our feet in the water while paddling. We felt very comfortable in this environment. The kids loved it ✨
