Etruscan Museum

The Guarnacci Etruscan Museum is a public archeological museum located in Volterra, Tuscany, Italy. The museum was founded in 1761 by the aristocrat and abbott Mario Guarnacci and features a collection of over 600 funerary urns, as well as other artifacts from the Etruscan civilization, including bronze votive figurines, jewelry, and ceramics. One of the most significant monuments in the collection is the Urn of the Newlyweds, which depicts two elderly spouses lying on a convivial bed. Another notable piece is the votive bronze representing a young man known as the Shadow of the Evening, which is an elongated bronze statue in the shape of a human shadow projected on the ground. The museum also features an archaeological excavation covered by a glass panel, which allows visitors to walk above it while admiring the finds.
