The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a medieval structure in Pisa, Italy, famous for its settling foundations, which caused it to lean. The tower is 55.86 meters high and has 296 or 294 steps. It was built as the bell tower of the city's cathedral complex and features a unique architecture with a blind arcade articulated by engaged columns with classical Corinthian capitals. The tower has seven bells, with the largest weighing over 3,600 kg. The tower's lean was reduced from 5.5 degrees to less than 4.0 degrees after extensive work was done to straighten it. The tower is now stable and is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the world, receiving over 5 million visitors each year
