What to expect

The Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia is an open-air museum of Etruscan civilization overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. It includes the remains of ancient Populonia, the only city built by the Etruscans on the sea. The park features several areas, including the Necropolis of San Cerbone with burials from various periods, the Necropolis of the Caves with burial chambers excavated into the rock, and the Acropolis of Populonia with remains of temples and houses. Visitors can also explore the experimental archeology center, where they can try their hand at reproducing objects and tools using ancient techniques. The park offers a glimpse into the industrial districts of the city, where iron was manufactured, and features a number of trails, including the Via delle Cave and the Via del Ferro. The park is a great place for families to visit, with its unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty
