Piazza della Repubblica

Piazza della Repubblica is the centre of Florence, marking the site of the city's ancient Roman forum. The Colonna dell'Abbondanza, or Column of Abundance, stands at the intersection of the cardo and decumanus, the main axes of the Roman city. The square has a long history, having been a marketplace and the location of the Jewish Ghetto. Today, it is a vibrant public space, home to the historic Caffè Gilli, Caffè Paskowski, and Caffè delle Giubbe Rosse, which were once meeting points for the city's artists and writers. The square is also a popular spot for street performers and live music, making it a great place to visit with family and friends
