What to expect

The Palazzo Vecchio, also known as the Palazzo della Signoria, is a historic government building in Florence, Italy. It has been the seat of the Signoria of the Florentine Republic in the 14th century and then the government centre of the Medici grand dukes of Tuscany. The palace features a Tuscan Gothic design and has undergone additions and renovations over the centuries, including work by Giorgio Vasari and Buontalenti. The building is adorned with several famous examples of Renaissance sculpture, including Donatello's 'Judith and Holofernes' and a copy of Michelangelo's 'David'. Visitors can explore the palace's interior, which includes the 'Salone del Cinquecento', a large hall with a coffered ceiling decorated with 42 cassettes depicting important episodes in the history of Florence. The palace also features a 94-meter-high medieval tower and a museum showcasing the history of Florence
