Ritten, also known as Renon, is a comune in South Tyrol, Italy. It is located on a high plateau, elevation 1,100 to 1,400 metres, and is a popular summer destination for citizens of Bolzano due to its cooler air. The comune has a total area of 111 km2 and a population of 7,925 as of August 2018. Ritten is connected to Bolzano with a provincial road and a cableway from Oberbozen, one of the longest cableways in the world in one track. The comune is home to several villages, including Klobenstein, Atzwang, and Lengmoos, and features several groups of fairy chimneys, or earth pyramids, near Oberbozen and Lengstein. Ritten also has a 1,198-metre high-elevation outdoor artificial ice track, the Arena Ritten, which has hosted several European Speed Skating Championships and World Cup events.
