The Biotopo di Ecken is a high-altitude biotope located on Alpe Cimbra, at an elevation of 1,250 meters above sea level. It is the only biotope established above 1,000 meters and is a protected area due to its unique natural characteristics. The biotope features a fully fitted trail and a bridge, allowing visitors to enjoy a guided tour of the area. An educational itinerary is also available at Maso Spilzi, an 18th-century facility converted into an exhibition venue. The biotope is a rare example of a peat deposit in a karst environment and is home to numerous plant associations, including sedge beds. A body of water in the middle of the peat bog varies in level throughout the year, and the area is safeguarded from contamination and human pressure
