The Palermo Cathedral, also known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, is a cathedral church located in Palermo, Sicily, southern Italy. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and is characterized by a mix of different styles, including Norman, Islamic, Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical, due to a long history of additions, alterations, and restorations. The cathedral features a grandiose and harmonious architecture, with a façade joined by two ogival arches pointing to the bell tower, a large fourteenth-century portal, and a scenic portico in Gothic-Catalan style. The interior is adorned with marble statues by the Gagini school, depicting saints, and houses the royal and imperial burials of notable figures such as Roger II, Henry VI of Swabia, Constance of Altavilla, and Frederick II of Swabia. The cathedral also features a chapel dedicated to Santa Rosalia, the patron saint of Palermo, where her ashes are kept in a silver urn
