Museum Tirano, Lombardy, Italy

What to expect

The Museo Etnografico Tiranese is an ethnographic museum showcasing the traditional peasant life and culture of the Valtellina region. The museum features a collection of over 14,000 objects, including traditional equipment for wood and ironwork, textile production, and agricultural tools. The exhibition area is spread over three floors and a cellar room, with a reconstructed 'stüa' room, a kitchen, and a show-room with tools for daily peasant activities. The museum also includes items from the nearby Sanctuary of Madonna di Tirano, such as vestments donated by Cardinal Richelieu in 1636. The museum is accessible and free to visit, making it a great place for families to learn about the region's history and culture
