The Basilica of San Bartolomeo all'Isola is a thousand-year-old church located on the Tiber Island in Rome, Italy. The church was built on the site of an ancient temple dedicated to Aesculapius, the god of medicine, and was initially dedicated to St. Adalbert of Prague. It is now dedicated to St. Bartholomew the Apostle, whose relics are housed in the church. The church has undergone several renovations and restorations over the centuries, including a major reconstruction in the 17th century. The interior of the church features 14 ancient Roman columns, two lion supports, and a beautiful Baroque façade. The church also houses a memorial to the new martyrs of the 20th and 21st centuries, which was dedicated by Pope John Paul II in 2000. Visitors can admire the church's stunning architecture, historic artifacts, and beautiful works of art, making it a great place to visit with family and friends
