Palazzo del Comune

Town hall Anagni, Latium, Italy

What to expect

Anagni is an ancient town and comune in the province of Frosinone, Latium, in the hills east-southeast of Rome. It is a historical and artistic centre of the Latin Valley. The town still maintains the appearance of a small medieval hill town, with small twisting streets and steep lanes, and is built inside Roman boundary walls. Anagni was an important city and spiritual centre of the Hernici, and it was also a significant location during the Roman period, with many emperors spending their summers there to escape the heat of Rome. The town has a rich history, with archaeological discoveries revealing cultural and economic relationships between the Hernici and the Etruscans around the 7th century BC. Visitors can explore the town's historic centre, including the Cathedral, which was built on the ruins of a temple dedicated to the Goddess Ceres, and the Palazzo di Bonifacio VIII, which offers stunning views of the valley of the River Sacco
