Carnia is a historical-geographic region in the northeastern Italian area of Friuli, with 27 municipalities belonging to the province of Udine. The region has a rich history dating back to the Celtic period, with the Carni tribe settling in the area. The town of Venzone, located in the Carnia region, is a notable destination, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and stunning natural surroundings. The town was almost entirely destroyed by the 1976 Friuli earthquake but was rebuilt in its original style. Visitors can explore the town's historic center, featuring the beautiful Saint Andrew Cathedral, and enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding Julian Alps and Carnic Prealps
