What to expect

The Sanctuary of San Luca, located on Colle della Guardia, is a basilica church in Bologna, northern Italy. It has been a symbol of Bologna and a place of religious worship for centuries. The sanctuary is connected to the city centre by a 3.8 km monumental roofed arcade, consisting of 666 arches, which was built in 1674-1793. The arcade is the longest in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The sanctuary offers marvellous views over the surrounding landscape and has a panoramic terrace that enables visitors to admire a unique 180° view of Bologna. The basilica is accessible by elevator to all types of disabilities, except for the dome and crypt. The sanctuary is a significant cultural and religious site, with a long history dating back to the 12th century. It features various artworks, including paintings and stucco works, and is a popular destination for pilgrims and tourists alike
