Salento is a town and comune in the Cilento area, province of Salerno, in the Campania region of south-western Italy. The town has a population of around 2,000 people and covers an area of 23 km2. It is situated at an elevation of 420 meters above sea level. The town has several frazioni, including Fasana, Maroccia, and Palazza. The patron saint of Salento is Santa Barbara, and the town celebrates her feast day on December 4th. The town's demographics show a mix of age groups, with a significant number of residents in the 60-69 and 70-79 age ranges
