Villa del Fauno

Archaeological site Pompei, Campania, Italy

What to expect

The House of the Faun is one of the most famous and luxurious aristocratic houses in Pompeii, showcasing the wealth and social standing of its owner, a wealthy magistrate of the Satrii family. The house features two peristyles, two atria, and a private thermal environment, with numerous mosaics, frescoes, and early-style stucco present in every room. One of the most notable artworks found in the house is the Alexander Mosaic, which depicts the Battle of Issus between Alexander the Great and the Persian King Darius. The house also features a bronze statue of a dancing faun, which is now located in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. With its impressive architecture and well-preserved artworks, the House of the Faun is a must-visit destination for families interested in history and archaeology
