The Pio Monte della Misericordia is a church and art museum in the historic center of Naples, southern Italy. It is famous for its art works, including Caravaggio's 'The Seven Works of Mercy'. The church was consecrated in 1606 and has been enlarged and renovated over the years. The building houses an extraordinary series of paintings from the 16th to the 19th century, including works by Giordano, Ribera, Stanzione, Vaccaro, Preti, and other masters. The Quadreria on the first floor has a collection of art objects, silverware, and sacred vestments from ancient Naples confraternities. The Pio Monte della Misericordia is also home to a rich Archive/Library, which contains documents and volumes of great value and rarity
