Castel Nuovo, also known as Maschio Angioino, is a medieval castle located in Naples, Italy. The castle was built in 1279 and was the royal residence of the Kings of Naples until the 16th century. Today, it is a museum and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. Visitors can explore the three courtyards, defensive walls, and castle towers, as well as the Sala dei Baroni, the Chapel of San Giovanni, and the Cappella Palatina. The castle houses numerous art collections, including paintings by Italian masters such as Battistello Caracciolo and Luca Giordano. The castle also offers a breathtaking view of the city from its ramparts. The Cappella Palatina is decorated with frescoes by Maso di Banco and a ciborium by Iacopo della Pila, and the Sala dei Baroni is a historic throne room that now hosts city council meetings and cultural events
