The Royal Palace of Caserta is a former royal residence in Caserta, Campania, constructed by the House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies as their main residence as kings of Naples. The palace is the largest former royal residence in the world, with 1,200 rooms and 34 magnificent staircases. It features a sumptuous palace with opulent and beautiful royal flats, a riot of marble, frescoes, paintings, and period furnishings, as well as gardens that deserve a visit on their own. The palace is an example of Italian Baroque and was built with two royal residences in mind: the Palace of Versailles of the kings of France and the Escorial Palace on the outskirts of Madrid, of the kings of Spain. Visitors can explore the huge palace park, which includes an impressive English Garden, and the Royal Apartments, including the Palatine Chapel and the Halls of the Four Seasons. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered the swan song of the spectacular art of the Baroque
