Cathedral of Matera

The Cathedral of Matera, also known as the Cathedral of the Madonna della Bruna and Sant'Eustachio, is an Apulian Romanesque-style structure located in the heart of the city of Matera. It was built in the 13th century and features a Latin cross ground plan with three naves, separated by round arches supported by columns with stone capitals. The cathedral has a number of notable features, including a rose window with sixteen rays, a campanile, and a number of frescoes and sculptures. The interior has a Baroque-style decoration, including gilded stuccoes and frames, and contains several notable works of art, including an ancient nativity scene and a 13th-century fresco of Our Lady of Bruna. The cathedral is a significant cultural and historical landmark in Matera and is a popular tourist destination
